Walla Walla, Washington

On Sunday, we traveled 88 miles to Four Seasons RV Resort in Walla Walla, Washington. We are in Site 25 with full hookups. Nice location. Walla Walla has a wonderful old downtown. Lots of wineries and brew pubs in the area.

On Friday, we toured Canoe Ridge Cellars and learned a lot about the local wine region and sampled many wines.

Afterwards, we went to the Walla Walla Wine Incubator. We spent time at SMAK, a Rose only startup. Very nice.

Pam and I visited Big House Brew Pub and tried a flight of beer and had nachos for lunch. Huge and tasty.

Pendleton Saturday Night

Saturday, we traveled 87 miles to Wildhorse Casino RV Campground outside of Pendelton, Oregon. Pam and I went to downtown to the Prodical Sun Brewery for a beer and a bite. The beer was great. I bought a couple of growler cans of “Righteous Indignation” a red beer. We had the General’s Cauliflower, and it was great. Deep fried Cauliflower with a spicy sauce.

We then walked around to see the town. We ran into “Get Wild in Pendleton” – Live music every Saturday night. the “High Milage Band” was playing country music. It was fun. We sat outside and had a couple of margaritas from Joe’s Fiesta Grill and Cantina. We stayed for 2 sets and really had a great time.

Anthony Lake Hike

On Friday, Pam and Kelly drove (31 miles) to Anthony Like to hike in the mountains. We hiked around Anthony Lake, Black Lake and Lilly Pad Lake.

The hikes were easy and well-marked. In all, we hiked just over 4 miles. The trails were not crowded for a Friday. We only ran into a few people. Very calm and relaxing hike.

Baker City Downtown Wine Walk

On Thursday night, a group of us did the Baker City Downtown Wine Walk. A $10 donation gets you a BCD logo wine glass and a map. You then stroll around downtown visiting local business that serve small adult beverages. There were 14 stops in all, and it was a blast. We then finished the tour at the Brewery.

Haines & Baker City Museums

On Thursday, we visited the Haines Eastern Oregon Museum and the Baker City Heritage Museum with Al and Betty Moody.

The Haines Museum has the feel of an old Antique store. They have groups of artifacts from the area that really show life in wild west. For example, they have the original telephone switchboard that was used until the 1960’s and Model T Ford.

The Baker City Museum is very professional, and well done. It is in the 100-year-old Baker Municipal Natatorium (aquatic center). They have a massive rock and gem exhibit as well as a Wally Byam exhibit (the founder of Airstream trailers). He was born in Baker City.
