Caravan Stop #6 – 335 Miles. Our longest drive of the Caravan.
We stayed Dawson City RV Park. Nothing special RV park, but it did the trick.
Dawson City is the home of the Klondike Gold Rush in August of 1896.
On our first evening, Pam and I went to Bombay Peggy’s for cocktails. Wow – great cocktails. So good, we had 2 and brought friends the next night for a night cap.
The second evening went to Sourdough Saloon and joined the Sourtoe Cocktail Club by drinking a shot of Whiskey that contained a mummified “Real” toe. You can drink it fast or you can drink it slow, but your lips must touch the toe! Pam and I both joined the club. It comes with a signed certificate from the captain.
After eating and doing the toe shot at the saloon, we headed over to Diamond Tooth Gerties for a cancan show.
The group had a very nice walking tour of the downtown area. Highly recommended. The history is amazing.
Pam and I drove 100 miles up the Demster Highway to experience the start of the Arctic Tundra. It can be a rough ride. We made it to the Continental Divide.
We drove up to the Midnight Dome Lookout where there were great views of the city
Leving Dawson City, we needed to take a free ferry across the fast flowing Yukon River.
