Yellowstone

We stayed 3 nights at Yellowstone’s Edge RV Park, which was very nice ($100/night) and right on the Yellowstone River. Great access to the North Gate of Yellowstone. We then moved to Bay Bridge Campground inside the national park for 5 nights of dry camping, but we could run our generator.

It has rained quite a lot over the past 2 weeks, so we have not hiked nearly enough. We drive around in the Jeep site seeing and looking for bears.

After the 4th of July, we head north to Glacier National Park.

Bears and Bison

Since being in Yellowstone, we have seen Black and Brown Bears, Lots of Bison, Elk Galore. On one day trip, we saw bears 5 separate time. But still, no Grizzley’s!

We have had 3 Bison Jams, with them stopping traffic to cross the road and one guy who was just walking down our lane of the road.

Twice, we have watched a Bisson cross the Yellowstone River. Very cool!

Red Rocks and Waterfalls

After Coulter FaBaylls, we stayed 7 nights / 8 days at Red Rocks RV Park; a full hookup RV resort. We went a few hikes and visited local sites. Mostly, we relaxed and enjoyed full hookups.

On one drive, Pam saw Great Grey Owl while driving. She pulled over quickly, and we got some great pictures of him.

We took a short drive to Big Springs Idaho and visited the Jonny Sack Cabin built in 1932 by hand. The cabin and furniture.

After Red Rocks, we traveled to Campfire Lodge and Resort. A cool little campground on the Madison River. Lots of Fly Fishing here. More details next week.

Geysers

Before Leaving Coulter Bay Campground, we went back to the Old Faithful area and took a hike to see all of the Geysers. We also took the free tour of the Old Faithful Inn (highly recommended) and had dinner there. Lots of great pictures and short videos of the Geysers.

I uploaded a few short videos here: Luna Rossa Adventures – YouTube

As we were leaving, there was a huge male Bisson just hanging out by the side of the road. Got some great pictures of him.

Old Faithful

On our trip to Red Rocks Campground – Future Post, we stopped by Old Faithful. We did not spend a lot of time, but we did get to see her go off right on time (to the minute). We watched a few movies about Yellowstone and had lunch at the lodge. All in All, a very nice stop. We will probably go back to see everything.

Pam met David William Peterson, wildlife photographer who followed the famous Grizzly Bear 399. He signed her book and print art featuring 399 and 4 cubs.
