Going to the Sun Road

After leaving Yellowstone, we traveled north to Glacier National Park. We stayed 1 night at a Harvest Host: Apple Bar Orchard. Enjoyable stay were we bought berries, jelly and syrup made from Haskap Berries – a super fruit.

We are staying outside Glacier at Heart of Glacier RV Park. A very short drive to the east gate of Glacier.

Our first full day, we drove the “Going to the Sun Road“. A 51 mile drive through the valley and mountains. Beautiful sites and highly recommended.

Grizzly and Chuck Wagon Dinner

While staying a Bay Bridge Campground inside Yellowstone, we booked the Chuckwagon Dinner where you take a horse drawn wagon into the back country where they cook a steak dinner for all 200 people. It was very good and we highly recommend it.

While there, we grabbed a table with 2 people. Turns out that Jennifer and Chad were camping just 2 sites from us. What a coincidence. We became friends and had a nice campfire / smores with them on our last night.

On drive home, we ran into a bunch of bison, and we our first Grizzly Bear sighting. Grok says it is a young grizzly that is collared for observation.

Yellowstone

We stayed 3 nights at Yellowstone’s Edge RV Park, which was very nice ($100/night) and right on the Yellowstone River. Great access to the North Gate of Yellowstone. We then moved to Bay Bridge Campground inside the national park for 5 nights of dry camping, but we could run our generator.

It has rained quite a lot over the past 2 weeks, so we have not hiked nearly enough. We drive around in the Jeep site seeing and looking for bears.

After the 4th of July, we head north to Glacier National Park.
