Casa Grande, AZ

We arrived at Palms Creek RV and Golf Resort on Friday. We are here for a week.

It is a huge full service 55+ resort on the more expensive side ($500 for a week). But it has a nice 18 hole executive par 3 golf course. 32 Pickleball courts; tennis courts. 4 heated pools with hot tubs. All very nice. Like last week, they have lots of activities and clubs to keep the retired people active.

We are staying in Lot 52 which is on the east wall; very quiet. All lots are large (40′ x 50′).

SKP Saguaro Co-op

Lot 172

This week, we are staying in Benson, AZ at the SKP Saguaro Co-op. Only members of Escapees can stay here, and the cost is very reasonable. A week is $130, and for a first timer, it is only $80/week.

The Co-Op was started in the late 1980’s, and is a unique idea. A membership in the SKP Saguaro Co-op entitles the purchaser to a lifetime lease on a lot.

Neighbor has great landscaping

The basic price of a membership is $13,495.00. This figure is the core of the cost of a lifetime lease. The cost of any improvements made by the previous leaseholders are added to this figure. Fully developed lots can run up to $40,000 with great little casitas. there is also an annual maintenance fee of around $1,200.

When you quit, the lot goes back into the pool for another member to buy. The value does not appreciate like other properties, so you will not make money, but is a guaranteed no lose investment.

It only costs $500 to get onto the hotlist / waiting list, so we did it. As of today, we are #340. It may take a few years, but we have time.

Click here for a virtual tour that explains the history and all of the amenities (which are many).

Here is a video from the owners of our lot #172. It is owned by Chris and Cherie, A couple I follow on YouTube and have leaned a great deal to upgrade our Airstream from their RV Mobile Internet site.

Isla Blanca RV Park

On January 1st, we moved into the Isla Blanca RV County park. We are in site C389 an it is cheap at $20/day with full hookups. Nice park.

Our friends Barry and Sue have been delayed in coming down to South Padre, so they offered us their rental unit. It has been a pleasure to stay in the 2 bedroom townhouse for a week. Billy is loving it.

This week, we went to Mexico – a 1 hour drive away. Thanks to our tour guides Bob and Ranae Davis. It was a fun day of shopping and lunch. We would go back. It cost $2 to park all day on the US side. $1 per person to walk over the international bridge and 25 cents to come back into America.

Kelly golfed with Bob at SPI Golf Club. It was beautiful day and Kelly’s back did great.

Lots of walks and bike rides on the beach. Great weather with gorgeous Sunsets and Sunrises. Highly recommended.

Lake Pointe RV Resort

The Lake Pointe RV Resort is in the hill country of Texas. We enjoyed the rolling hills and trees. The resort has roaming dear through out the campsite. People feed them, so they are very tame and comfortable with people.

They are located along the north shore of beautiful Canyon Lake in Canyon Lake, Texas. Canyon Lake is one of the premier recreational areas located between the cities of San Antonio and Austin in the Hill Country.

Using Packers Everywhere, Pam even found a Packer’s bar (Scores Sports Bar & Grill) in New Braunfels to watch the game on Sunday.

We were rewarded with a great game against the Los Angeles Rams. Packers Won!

The Range Vintage Trailer Park

Sarah and Paul, the owners and operators of The Range Vintage Trailer Resort have poured their hearts and souls into this place. Their mission is to create a place that Airstream owners always dreamed of finding. With a lot of thought and planning, based on their own travel experience and advice and wishes from fellow Airstream and vintage trailer owners, we think they’ve done it.

We made great new friends in Stuart and Kate Robertson along with their 3 kids and Buster, a fun Golden Retriever. They also introduced us to their parents Linda and Dean as well as their friends Allison & Brett as well as Jamie &John. All Airstreamers! We will definitely stay in touch with them all and see them again.

It is a special place and we look forward to returning. We stayed 5 nights in Site 15 which was outstanding with lots of privacy and a huge oak tree with lights hanging from the branches.

Although we could not use the pool due the to cold weather, it is top kotch. The restaurant and Globetrotter bar are open on the weekends.
