Tucson Update

We have been at Desert Trails RV Park for a couple of weeks. We leave next week on the 31st and head back to Palm Creek for February and March.

The weather turned cool (55-degree highs / 30-degree lows). But sunny. Not hiking as much as we should. A couple of 4 and 5 mile hikes in the Tuscon Mountain Park. The RV Park is right next to the park.

We traveled back to Benson, AZ to visit the SKP Coop (we are on the waiting list) and have lunch at Mi Casa with Terry and Kirk. We reaffirmed how much we like the SKP park and Mi Casa Restaurant. For fun, we stopped at the local San Pedro Golf Course for a drink. Nice place with great views.

We toured a couple of Robson 55+ retirement communities, but decided we are not ready yet to buy in Arizona. Going to focus on our future property on Squaw Lake in Wisconsin.

Tuscon, Arizonia

Due to an incoming winter storm, we took off south a day earlier than planned. We left an hour after Kelly arrived back in Hudson after the Packers Game New Year’s Day.

We drove the 1,600 miles in 3 nights / 4 days to get to Chandler, AZ to pick up our Airstream Trailer. We had warranty work done at the dealership. They did a great job with everything. The awing now works great now.

We are staying at Desert Trails RV Park for 3 weeks through January 31st. We are in site C5, which is fabulous. Meeting back up with Terri and Kirk who have been staying here a month already. We stated here before in March of 2021.

We are looking forward to hiking the Saguaro National Park which is right behind our trailer. Billy is happy and looking forward to getting outside in the sunshine.

Palm Creek Again

Last week on the 17th of November, we arrived back in Palm Creek Resort and Residences in Casa Grande, Arizonia. Our traveling companions, Kirk and Terry showed up the next day.

Kelly bought a set of used Callaway golf clubs and a Ping golf bag for Pam at a local rummage sale and has been using them to golf a few times.

Days are warm in the high 60’s; nights are in the low 40’s. The sun shines every day. We have enjoyed walking and relaxing. And the night sky is beautiful.

Saturday, we drove to Phoenix to test drive Lectric eBikes. Pretty much decided we will get the new 3.0 Step through bikes when we return to Arizonia. Stopped by the Airstream dealer for fun and then ended our day at the San Tan Brewery.

Jojoba Hills SKP – California

Where are Pam and Kelly - Go to Calendar / Events in the Menu

Not much to blog about this week. We got tired of the rain in northern California and not being able to do much outside. So, we left Crescent City on Monday and headed south.

Monday, we traveled 248 miles to Redwood Empire Campground in Ukiah, California. A simple overnight stay.

Tuesday, we traveled 348 miles to Lost Hills KOA in Lost Hills, California. All we did here was rest, sleep and go.

Wednesday, we traveled 181 miles to Shady Lane RV Campground in Barstow, California. This was a very tight no frills campground. Easy in / Easy out.

On Thursday, we traveled 141 miles to Jojoba Hills SKP RV Resort. This is another Escapees Co-op RV community. It is in the high desert southeast of LA. Very nice community with huge lots and nice amenities. We are staying here for a week to rest and relax.

Next Thursday, we will head East back to Arizonia. We are going back to Palm Creek for 17 days. Meeting up again with our Caravan friends – Terry and Kirk.

On November 5th, drop-off our Airstream to the dealer for warranty repairs in Chandler, AZ and head back to Wisconsin for Christmas and New Year’s. We will be there for a month before returning to Arizonia in early January.

Crescent City, California

On Monday, we drove 45 miles south to Ramblin Redwood RV Park in Crescent City, California. Here, we met up with Kirk and Terry from the Cascadia Caravan for a few days. A campground situated among the redwood trees. Large full hookup sites in a great location.

On Tuesday, we hiked the Stout Grove Memorial Trial, an ancient coast redwood forest (old Growth) with 300 foot trees; scenes from “Return of the Jedi” were filmed here. A short 1-mile hike but a must see.

Later we hiked Grove of Titans Trail. This trail has some of the worlds largest measured redwoods (by volume). It is a cool trail with metal walkways to protect the forest floor from compression to allow rainfall to reach the soil.

Tuesday night, we celebrated Pam’s birthday at Marlo’s Restaurant. A simple place in a strip mall, but the food was outstanding. We really enjoyed the evening.

Wednesday, we visited Tour Thru Tree, an 800 year old Redwood with a road passing through it. Unfortunately, our beast of a truck would not fit through all the way – the mirrors were just too wide! Good fun for $5.
