18+ Mile Bike Ride (eBikes)

Pam and I rented eBikes today and rode for over 18 miles. We followed the entire sea wall up the coast. When we returned to town we went back to the Tree Tour and saw the sculptures we missed on Monday. Great afternoon. I think eBikes are in our future.

Pam rented this one: Interceptor Cruiser

Kelly Rented this one: City Commuter

Kelly also tried this one out: Element Fat Tire Bike

We both liked the Interceptor the best, but Kelly would go with the Fat tire bike to be able to go anywhere.

Galveston Tree Sculpture Tour

Pam and I walked most of this tour. Really a great story and fantastic sculptures. We stopped and talked to home owner of the Great Dane. He commissioned it based on one of his gigs that now keeps watch looking to the sea.

On September 13th, 2008, Hurricane Ike covered most of the Island in a tidal surge. The damaging combination of powerful wind and waves immediately uprooted many trees, but ultimately the salty storm waters led to the demise of the thousands of others. Ike forced us to say a sad goodbye to so much of the island’s beautiful tree canopy.

Years later, sculpture artists have breathed second life into something Mother Nature attempted to destroy. Whimsical sculptures have replaced the majestic oaks that once lined many neighborhood streets and shaded homes. Tucked into gardens and nestled in side yards the sculptures are there for you to enjoy.
