The 3.75-mile hike begins in unremarkable shrub, wiregrass and longleaf pine. Don’t be deceived. The Garden of Eden Trail quickly takes you on an adventure into an exotic Florida landscape.

A beautiful Southern mansion, the Gregory House, built in 1849 by prominent Calhoun County planter Jason Gregory, originally stood across the Apalachicola River from the park at Ocheesee Landing.
When first built, it stood atop five-foot-high brick pillars, an architectural feature that kept the interior of the home safe from the annual floods of the river.

This is an very nice and cheap ($24) campground run by the Army Corps of Engineers. Quite and great views on the lake.

We visited over 16 of the 22 old town squares. Very nice walk long. Great trees and old buildings. Highly recommend it.
