Before leaving Astoria, Pam and I drove to Long Beach back in Washington. We hiked the beach and had lunch. The next day, the group toured the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center and we hiked to the North Head Lighthouse which is still active today.

On Wednesday, we drove 157 miles to the Evergreen Aviation Museum where we stayed 1 night in the Harvest Host location. On the way, we stopped in Tillamook to tour the Tillamook Creamery.

The next day, we moved to Olde Stone Village RV Park; all in McMinnville, Oregon. The RV Park was very, very nice. Level concrete pads for the trailer and truck with nice grass. The clubhouse and facilities were outstanding.

On Thursday, we spend that day at the Museum, toured the Spruce Goose (separate post) and watched the new Top Gun movie in their IMax Theater.

On Friday, we went to Durant Winery, where we toured their Olive Oil Mill and had a wine tasting. We never did an olive oil tasting (with bread) before. It was fun.

Saturday was a lazy day to catch up on tasks and relax.

Astoria, OR

On Saturday, we drove 78 miles to Fort Stevens State Park in Hammond, OR (next to Astoria, OR). Another huge state park with full hookups.

We were able to have our first “Real” Campfire in many weeks. There is a burning ban on in most places. We have been limited to gas fires.

Sunday morning, we went to the Columbia River Maritime Museum. Well done museum with a 3D movie and the Light Ship Columbia docked in the harbor.

In the afternoon, we went to a sports bar: “End of the Trail Public House“. They had all the games on multiple TV’s, and the Packers found a way to win in overtime.

Castle Rock, WA

On Wednesday we drove 77 miles to Toutle River RV Resort in Castle Rock, WA. This is a huge resort that is very well done and well run. It sits between the interstate and active train tracks, so there is some noise which did not bother us.

The weather was rainy and cloudy most of the time, so we did not get many pictures.

On Thursday, we drove up to Mount Saint Helens. Again, no real good pictures, but it was fascinating. We stopped at the Forest Learning Center on the way up to the Johnson Ridge Observation Center which normally has a great view of the mountain – not the cover photo is what it can look like.

Raymond, Washington

On Monday, we travelled 148 miles to Riverfront Park in Raymond, WA. This is not a campground, but a city park where they have 20amp outlets for vendors. We stayed here for 2 nights.

Monday night, the group we had dinner at the Willapa Brewing Company. The local beer was good, and the pizza was great. So great, we had dinner there again the next night.

On Tuesday, we started out our day at the White Pines Coffee Company inside the shops at Adler & Co. Very cute place with very good coffee and snacks. All there are 70 different local businesses selling stuff there.

Next, we visited the Willapa Seaport Museum and got a tour from Captain Pete. He can really spin a tail and he tries to stump you with questions on what things are. Kelly won a special prize – a brass button!

After the Seaport Museum, we went next door to the Northwest Carriage Museum. Sounds kinda sleepy, but it was wonderful. The tour by Jerry was outstanding and the the history was great. Gotta go if you are in town. Cheri impressed us all when she played the trumpet.

La Push, Washington

On Friday, we drove 64 miles to Quileute Oceanside Resort in La Push, Washington. We have a full hook-up site right on the ocean. Great views and sunsets. Very nice.

Friday night, Pam and I went looking for a place to watch football on Saturday and Sunday. First up: Blakeslees Bar and Grill. Good beer selection and the food was good. Next up: Westend Tap and Sip. A cute place run by a very nice couple: MIke and Glenda.

On Saturday, the group drove the Hoh Rainforest National Park. We hiked the Hoh Hall of Moss Trail where we watched a huge Roosevelt Elk walk past us twice! We then had a nice ranger talk on the history and workings of the temperate rainforest.

Then, a small group of us hiked the Hoh River Trail to Mineral Creek Falls. This was a 5.6-mile hike.

On Sunday, another small group of us headed out at 7:00am to for the Hole-in-the-Wall from Rialto Beach hike a 3.3-Mile hike. We needed to get there and back during low tide.

We also visited the Folks Timber Museum. Lots of history from the logging industry in Folks.
