Hodges Winery – Harvest Host

Pam and I made it to Alabama. Another state visited. We are staying at Hodges Winery & Vihttps://hodgeswinery.com/neyard. A harvest host.

Great setup with 4 RV full hookup sites with a concrete pads, 50amp electric, sewer and water at not cost except to visit the winery.

We were able to taste all their wines and bought 2 bottles. Highly recommend this location for an overnight stay.

TCPC Airstream

Today, we arrived at an all Airstream Campground. Tennessee Cumberland Plateau Campground (TCPC) which only allows Airstreams. We scored a fully developed site (17) with a shelter and nice deck. The site just sold today for $46,000. The HOA are around $2,000 per year.

On our first night, they held their first “Happy Hour” in the woods. A fun time – see our You Tube video.

Paducah, Kentucky

Pam and I are staying the night at Fern Lake Campground and RV Park in Paducah, Kentucky. Nice site on the bank of a lake. We are camped under a huge oak tree.

We went to the old downtown where they have an impressive series of murals on the flood wall along the Illinois River. This river town needs more than 1 evening to discover all its riches.

Day with Abe Lincoln

Pam and I spent the day in Springfield, IL doing all things Lincoln and staying 2 nights at Double J RV Park. We started our day at the Hen House. I nice country diner stat serves great breakfast.

We visited the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum and Library. The musem is great. It takes you through his whole life, not just his presidency. Very informative and well executed. We spent over 2 hours there.

The Museum complex includes Springfield Union Station

We toured the Lincoln Family Home which is a National Park Service. They have bought all of the surrounding homes that existed when Lincoln lived there.

Finally, we visited Lincon’s Tomb where he and his family were laid to rest (except for his oldest son who is in Arlington).
