Hot Springs Arkansas

On our journey south, we stopped for a few days in Hot Springs. We originally wanted to stay at the Hot Springs National Park in the Gulpha Gorge Campground, but it is first come first served, and was full. We quickly found a new place to stay: Leisure Landing RV Park. A nice smaller campground that is setup great right on Lake Hamilton. Full hookup site with laundry facilities is only $32/day.

On Friday, we started the day by soaking in the hot spring pools at Quapaw Bathhouse. They have 4 pools at at different temperatures (95, 98, 102 and 105 degrees). We spent a little over an hour in the pools and then had lunch at the café. Very nice. the next time we come to Hot Springs, we want to try a more traditional bathhouse experience at Buckstaff Bathhouse; they have individual tubs vs pools.

After the bathhouse, we hiked the Peak Trail which leads to the Hot Springs Mountain Tower.

We finished our day having dinner at Superior Bathhouse Brewery. We each sampled a flight of 4 beers and enjoyed the food. Great menu of food and beer. Highly recommended to here if you are in town.

Monroe, WI

We stopped by in Monroe to see Pam’s great Aunt Lilian and Bob. It was a very nice visit. They were our last visit heading home in the Spring and our first visit heading out. Looking forward to stopping by in the spring again.

We used our Harvest Host membership to once again stay 1 night at Hawk’s Mill Winery where we stayed in the spring. Upon arrival, Tracy remembered us from the spring, and welcomed us in. She made fantastic flat bread pizzas and the wine was great again. We ended up buying a couple of bottles of “Happy Camper” wine and a bottle of Rose.

If you are in the area, we highly recommend stopping in!

Kelly Retires

On Thursday, October 28th, Kelly fully retired from Doboy / Bosch / Syntegon. It was a great day filled with stories and good times. My friends at Doboy put together this great video from over the years.

Now, the adventure begins again. Starting tomorrow. We close on our house and hit the road. Headed to South Padre Texas with a few stops along the way. Stay tuned.

Arches National Park

Wow, Wow, Wow. What a great park. It has a very nice 20 mile drive / tour. Great hiking. With Brennan and Kayla, we hiked the Devils Garden and took the Primitive Loop; challenging 2.1 mile hike. We saw all 7 arches along the trail. The next night, we went back at sunset. Kelly hiked to see the world famous “Delicate Arch” at sunset. A 1-1/2 mile hike literally uphill all the way. He completed the hike in 24 minutes, just in time to see the arch in full sunlight (notice the sun is at the very bottom of the arch. It was gone in minutes.
