WM Phoenix Open

On Sunday, we went to the WM Phoenix Open in Scottsdale, AZ. We decided to follow 1 group around the golf course: Ricky Fowler, Jason Day & Sungjae Im.

It was actually cheaper to go on Sunday – Superbowl Sunday – than any other day of the week ($50 vs $75). Parking with a shuttle bus was free and easy.

We enjoyed walking the entire course, but it was surprisingly hilly.

Pam and I were “Hole High” when Rickie made his hole in 1 on the 7th hole from 216 yards. We did not see the ball until it hit the green, but I did see it go in the hole!

This reminded me of 1996 when my dad and I attended the Greater Milwaukee Open. It was Tiger Wood’s pro debut. We were “Pin High” to the left of the green on hole 14. I saw the 188 yard shot all the way. It bounced s couple of times and rolled it. A great memory that day with my dad. YouTube Video here.

It was a fun day, but we were exhausted when we made it back to see the Super Bowl and all the commercials.

Palm Creen: Casa Grande, AZ

We arrived back in Palm Creek on January 31st. We are back in site 398 and are enjoying the sun and activities.

Kelly started golf with his Wednesday group. We played at Sewailo Golf Club in Tucson. Nice course that is part of a casino. Nice weather and Kelly shot a nice little 84 (from the senior tees).

Both Pam and Kelly took a Pickleball Lesson (2 hours) and really enjoyed it. So, we both joined the Palm Creek Pickleball Club and signed up for “Round Robin” events. Pam’s is next week. Kelly played on Saturday which consisted of 6 games played in 2 hours. Great exercise.

Pam took a Wine & Painting course on Saturday. It was 2 hours, and she used acrylic paint to create a masterpiece. A new talent she is discovering which she inherited from her mother – Jan.

Pam and Kelly also signed up for the workshop club. Pam starts her beginner’s woodworking class next Monday.

There are so many clubs and activities at Palm Creek; it you are bored here, it is your fault.

Sabino Canyon Trail

The group traveled to Sabino Canyon to walk the trails. Another great set of trails in Tucson. We started at the visitor center at the Bear Canyon Trailhead.

We walked up the Phoneline trail, but it we could not stay on it due the creek running strong from recent rains. We changed course and hiked to the Sabino Damn which created Sabino Lake.
