Palm Creek for 4 Months

A week ago, we arrived back in Palm Creek RV Park. We plan to be here for 4 months (until mid-April).

We are enjoying getting back to golf and other activities. Pam has joined back up with her sewing friends. Kelly is back in the golf league with his buddies and golfing every Wednesday. Pam and Kelly are golfing on Fridays in the couple’s scramble. All very fun.

The weather has been great. 70 and sunny every day; 40’s at night. Top-down weather in Pam’s car.

Ft. Worth & Stockyards

On our way to Arizona, we stayed 4 nights outside of Ft. Worth, Texas.

We stayed at Cowtown RV Park in Aledo, TX. It was a very nice campground. Clean and easy to get in and out of.

We mainly relaxed and recharged. The only thing we did was visit the Stockyards which has a heard of longhorns and does a drive / parade down main street.

House Done – Headed South

On November 6th, we received our occupancy permit for the new house. We were so busy moving in and organizing, I did not take any pictures or shoot any real video. We are very happy with how everything turned out.

Then, the weather turned cold. Highs in the 20’s! Too Cold. So, we quickly decided to head south. We setup the house for being vacant over the winter (smart thermostats, video cameras, internet, shut off the water) and left quickly.

We drove 1,000 miles (Kelly driving the truck/trailer and Pam following in her car) in 3 days and arrived in northern Texas. We will stay in Texas for about a week.

We will then head West to Arizona for the next 4 months where the weather looks great (70’s every day and sunny).

Almost Done / In

We have made great progress, but we did not get occupancy by the end of October as planned. We were ready, but the inspector could not make. We hope to get occupancy on Monday, November 4th!

All of the electrical and plumbing is done (except for the tub which will be finished on Monday). The Barn Door style shower door will be installed next week (we hope).

The cabinets and countertops went in and look great. The white oak floors turned out great as well as the white oak stairs.

We planted “No-Mow” Grass along with oats (for fast roots) and some clover. Starting to green up nicely.

Update: Mid-September

Everything is moving along nicely. We anticipate getting occupancy at the end of October.

Since the last update

  • Pam and I painted all the interior walls.
  • Mahagony front door is installed and looks wonderful.
  • Kelly installed the cable railing on the master deck along with the privacy wall.
  • Gutters were installed and Kelly dug in PVC pipes to get the water away from the house
  • The stonework is complete. The fireplace is fantastic and the front grarage and patio pillars also look great.
  • Second well (first one was abandoned). Went in 8 feet from the first attempt and went flawlessly. Hit great water at 151 feet.
  • The White Oak Hardwood floor install started and will finish this week.
  • Tile installation has started as well.
  • Pam has stained all the the ceiling boards for the front porch and back patio as well as the board for our board and baton wall on the patio.

This coming week the floors should be done, and the finish work will start.
